Blow to US Religious Right as Child Prodigy Quits Bigotry

LGBT activists, anti-racists and others have been among the first to extend the hand of friendship to a child prodigy who was a poster boy for the right wing of the US Republican Party, but has changed his opinions and now endorses equal rights. Jonathan Kohn had addressed Republican meetings with rabble rousing attacks on abortion, LGBT people and secularism at the age of thirteen. He was often held up by the US far right as evidence that young people were buying into their message. However, four years on, he told a politics website that he was embarrassed by his intolerance. He said that he backs same sex marriage, and has changed his opinions as he has matured and read the works of philosophers, whom he wants to study at college. LGBT people online have been wishing him the very best for his studies.
