"Family Guy" creator is out for Marriage Equality
The popular street sold magazine The Big Issue has published a profile of “Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane. The handsome cartoonist is also responsible for American Dad and a new movie called Ted. The edgy adult cartoons have a reputedly high LGBT audience and gay fans will be delighted to learn that MacFarlane is a passionate supporter of marriage equality, and an opponent of the religious right in the United States. There has been some criticism of the way in which MacFarlane handles transgender people in cartoons, with the website Transgender Zone citing several instances where trans bodies are portrayed as repellent. On the other hand, there are few taboos in the cartoons and many issues are lampooned. Family Guy and American Dad both air on BBC Three television.
