"Gay Leper" Conference Picketed in Ulster

More than a hundred people attended a picket in Northern Ireland on Saturday aimed at a conference held by a fringe religious group which claimed that gay people needed to be turned into heterosexuals. LGBT people and friends rallied against the event which in its promotion had compared non-heterosexuals to lepers. Such fringe groups are rare in the British Isles, but aggressive fundamentalist groups based in the US have tried periodically to export their anti-gay agenda to European countries. A website, exgaywatch.com, monitors the activities of these gay cure groups with daily updates.
