Alive and Kicking - Gay Press Healthy as New Literary Journal Launches

There's a new gay magazine on the block, proving that the gay press is not dead! Jonathan magazine is a journal featuring what it calls original fiction by queer male writers. The magazine is named for Jonathan in the Old Testament, whom many people believe to have been the lover of King David. The journal has now launched its premier issue, and you can find it in all LGBT friendly bookstores including Gay's The Word London, Male Image and News from Nowhere Liverpool. The journal is the brainchold of independent publishing house Sibling Rivalry.

Aussie LGBT Radio Marks 20th Anniversary Year with Calendar Fun

Several anniversaries in gay broadcasting are coming up this year. In Australia, the country's only all LGBT station JOY-FM marks its twentieth birthday this year. To mark the event, they have produced a charity calendar of presenters and volunteers. JOY is a charity and holds a community license to serve Melbourne on 94.9 FM. Pro-LGBT Rallies in France Answer the Reactionary Politics of the Far Right

The Guardian reports that what it described as “tens of thousands” of people rallied in Paris over the weekend, in support of the French government’s proposals to implement marriage equality and adoption rights for same-sex couples. It follows a major mobilisation of anti-gay campaigners in the country, where trying to stop LGBT equality has become a new rallying cry for its usually warring right wing factions.

All Eyes on Anti-Choice Group as Feminists Rally in Defiance

The Left wing weekly paper Socialist Worker reports that around 50 pro-choice activists protested at the launch of a new anti-abortion group, the Alliance of Pro-Life Students on Wednesday of last week. Little is known about this new group at this stage, but feminist and pro-choice groups are watching with interest.

Activists Prepare to Gather for Bristol Anarchist Bookfair '13

Bristol has a thriving activist movement, it’s a very political city. One of the centre pieces of the political calendar, is the Bristol Anarchist Bookfair, which this year moves to the Trinity Centre at the bottom of Old Market – great for visiting if you are also at the LGBT venues in that end of town. Make a date in your diaries for Saturday 20th April. Vegan café, and a crèche will be available, and hundreds of stalls are anticipated covering all aspects of radical politics. Anarchism as an ideology dates back hundreds of years.
