TV Channel Resists Efforts of Anti-Gay Extremists to Stop Gay Advocacy

A coalition of anti-gay groups in the US has failed in its efforts to bar a gay rights advocate from appearing on FOX News Channel, a television network which is already known for being biased to the political right. The anti-gay groups such as the far right Liberty Counsel group had tried to blame outspoken activist Wayne Besen for a shooting at the headquarters of an organisation which agitates against equal rights. Mr Besen has over fifteen years experience of exposing the activities of those groups who say that gay people need to be reprogrammed into heterosexuals.

Anti-Gay Activist Caught in Indecent Behaviour

LGBT campaigners have long argued that anti-gay people are psychologically damaged, and pose a threat to the general public. Now, a court in the United States has sentenced a well known anti-gay protester who was caught masturbating in a park near a children’s play area. The Reverend Grant Storms dislikes gay people so much that he has picketed gay events such as Southern Decadence festival and once filed an unsuccessful lawsuit against an LGBT lobby organisation.

Positive News from Peru as Trans Women Get Chance to Finish their Education

In Peru, forty-five trans women are being offered the chance to study under a new scholarship programme. The Beca-Trans scheme is being founded by a coalition of LGBT and health education organisations to counter discrimination in schools which means that a lot of trans people do not finish education.

News Hacks in Perjury Charge OVer Sheridan Trial

A former News of the World reporter, has been charged with perjury over evidence given at the trial of former leader of the Scottish Socialist Party, Tommy Sheridan. Mr Sheridan was himself imprisoned for perjury but released in 2010 when doubts arose about the witness of News of the World journalists. The case is of interest to LGBT political campaigners as Mr Sheridan had always supported the gay and trans communities in Scotland.

New BBC Radio One Breakfast Show Presenter Comes Out

The BBC has a new high profile gay broadcaster. Nick Grimshaw, the new host of the Breakfast Show on youth network BBC Radio One, officially came out at the weekend. He told the Guardian that he had yet to meet the right guy and that he was single for the time being. The Radio One Breakfast slot is a prestigious show that has been hosted by such broadcasters as Chris Evans, Noel Edmonds and Tony Blackburn. Nick Grimshaw will take over on September 24th, replacing the allegedly homophobic Christopher Moyles.
